Bosses are enemies in Minecraft meant to be extremely challenging, and faced differently than normal mobs. Currently, there are only two bosses, the Ender Dragon and the Wither.

The Ender Dragon

The Ender Dragon is a flying boss found in the The End. It heals itself by healing entities that are on obsidian pillars placed around the island, which can be taken out by being hit by either a melee or a ranged weapon. Destroying these entities while the dragon is being healed by them will do massive damage to the dragon. However, the best way of killing the dragon is hitting its head with either a sword or an arrow shot from a bow. It has 200 points of health, or 100 hearts.

The Wither

The Wither is a levitating boss that shoots wither skulls from both heads of it's shoulders. One head shoots terrain-damaging skulls, while the other shoots skulls that deal the Wither II effect onto the player and deal fairly high damage. It has slow automatically regenerating health. When its health is taken down halfway, it becomes invulnerable to arrows. It has 300 points of health, or 150 hearts. The wither is made from 4 soul sand in a "T" pattern, with 3 wither skeleton skulls on each top block of the soul sand. The Wither is invincible for a few moments when spawned, and then destroys everything in its immediate vicinity, even obsidian.
